A Gathering Of Eagles

In August of 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait, an ally of the United States. This act of war was most responsible for Saddam Hussein's eventual downfall, more than all the weapons of mass destruction, terrorist support and mass killing of innocent civilians. After being defeated by a UN coalition and thrown out of Kuwait, Iraq meekly signed many agreements, which they promptly broke. The riches they stole from Kuwait were never returned, neither were the Kuwaiti prisoners of war. The POW's simply disappeared.

For many years during the Clinton administration Iraq was alternately appeased or struck with missiles and bombs by the US as they continued to threaten other countries and oppress their own people. In 1993 an Iraqi plot to assassinate President George H.W. Bush was discovered. A few years later France, China and Russia, in collusion with UN leaders, conspired with Saddam Hussein to steal food from the mouths of Iraqi children using the corrupt "Oil for Food" program.

Later these countries diplomatically fought against any attack on Saddam Hussein's regime under the guise of piety and morals. Whining, threats, behind the scene deals and propaganda were all tools used by the "coalition of the corrupt" to prevent war and keep Saddam's oil and bribes flowing. But then the attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred. Suddenly things were different. Iraq's harboring of terrorists like the notorious Abu Nidal and 1993 World Trade Center attack bomb maker Abdul Rahman Yasin were now more important.

Now it made a bigger difference if Iraq had used nerve gas on Iran and it's own people. Their terrorist training camps and open financial support of the Palestine Liberation Organization was too much to bear. To drive home the point of how much he hated America, Saddam Hussein orchestrated a huge celebration of the September 11 attacks throughout Iraq shortly after they occurred and commissioned a large painting of the World Trade Center explosion for the Baghdad Airport which included himself listed as the "combat leader." What could we do about this dangerous country threatening our allies, supporting terrorists and celebrating attacks on the USA? Plenty. Because of Iraq's violation of agreements such as when they ejected WMD inspectors, the US had legitimate reasons to attack.

After winning the Iraq war and holding elections, we stayed to round up some more terrorists and make sure Iraq was stable. We are also successful in that ongoing enterprise; as the terrorist techniques became more sneaky and dirty, we adapt with new strategies to handle their evil plans. The American Forces Information Network News Articles detail military successes and failures. Only the failures make mainstream media news, however, except for Fox News that also reports military successes. For doing that they pay a heavy price, the news channel is also a target of left wing propaganda.

"Anti-war" groups, run mostly by Communists, are chief purveyors of propaganda against troops and US foreign policy, using rallies, protests and fellow travelers in liberal news media. Slanted news stories and "anti-war" editorials by the latter help keep America in the dark about military successes. At rallies, left-wingers often attach banners to government buildings to take pictures. They chalk sidewalks or even spray paint as they did on the Capital Building in Washington DC recently.

Leftists are planning a new "anti-war" protest for the near future. Scheduled for March 17, 2007 the protest is to be at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens). Outraged, Pro-American troop supporters are planning their own rally in the same area on the same day with two purposes. To prevent leftists from spray painting the memorial, the rally will take place between the Wall and the radical protest. The second purpose is to stand up for the troops and America, defying liberals and their wacky, Communist propaganda.

Calling them selves the "Gathering of Eagles" and sponsored by veterans and patriotic groups such as Rolling Thunder, Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Move America Forward and FreeRepublic.com the rally will gather Pro-Americans from across the country. Veterans are especially welcome to travel to Washington DC and spend some time supporting their brothers and sisters in arms by attending the simultaneous Pro-Troop festivities and speeches. It is well known that most veterans support the troops and their mission of freedom in Iraq, yet it is the left who callously use what few veterans are on their side to falsely claim most veterans endorse surrender.

Upon learning of the Gathering of Eagles, the "anti-war" Communist front group A.N.S.W.E.R. piously denied they or any anti-war people would spray paint government property or deface a memorial. But history tells a different story. Somebody in the anti-war movement is doing it. Let's just make sure it doesn't happen by attending the rally if you can, or attending a hometown equivalent rally on the same day. That's what I'm doing.

Many people will be watching this event. Our troops as they fight for freedom overseas and at home. Our politicians with their fingers in the wind to gauge what the people are thinking. Journalists who write the news and often slant it according to what they happen to be looking at during the moment. Terrorists with their plans and schemes are especially watching and hoping the "anti-war" Americans succeed.

You can help. Visit the "Gathering of Eagles" website today and donate or make plans to attend. Print some flyers available on the website and deliver them to every veteran's organization you can find in your location. Search the web and find out if your town will have a similar "anti-war" protest and show up in a group across the street with flags and Pro-Troop signs. They have free speech, but so do you! Now is the time to speak out. Now is the time to be active. Now is the time to stand up for the troops, their mission and the United States of America!
