Fight for Victory Tour

When one's favorite sports team plays a game, it is customary to root for that team. Yet no team ever plays a match perfectly. There are always a good amount of mistakes made on both sides. Even so, people usually don't desert their own players until almost every chance of success has been eliminated. Of course, some disappointed fans have left early only to hear on the radio going home that their side tied up, went into overtime and then won. A very unusual sight would be some fans holding signs decrying their home team at the very beginning of the game! Why would they do that?
This is a very good question that shall be examined in this column. Since 9/11/2001, a time of mourning and national unity quickly changed into partisan defeatist rhetoric from the left side of political America. At the same time, every decision and speech made by the President was seemingly contradicted not only by liberal news media, left wing politicians and European socialist leaders but also by US intelligence leaks and some conservatives. Weapons of Mass Destruction were not the only reason we invaded Iraq, but when only 500 older munitions were immediately found, it was quickly spun into "Bush lied, people died."
Why does the left wing rant and rave so much against America? Don't they like this country? Many liberals do but they often don't understand their nation or how it works. Sometimes this is due to a lack of education in American History or liberal news media propaganda that tries to downgrade the American way of life when ever possible. Hollywood media steps in, too with movies about evil corporations and "anti-war" films depicting soldiers as freaked out wackos. Christians are held to ridicule in popular movies and strangely, compared by the left to fanatical Islam at will.
Certainly the facts of recent US conflicts seem plain to people of common sense. Terrorists have attacked America and other countries in the most cowardly of ways by bombing civilians. Their hope is to scare us into giving in to their demands. To facilitate these fanatic's evil plans, some countries that hate America's freedom will sponsor terrorism, giving money, resources, intelligence and training to the "cause." Afghanistan candidly harbored Osama Bin Ladin. Prewar Iraq had training camps and openly provided much money to terrorists, while overtly harboring some such as Abu Nidal. While it is still unclear exactly what Saddam Hussein had to do with the 9/11 attacks, he held celebrations across Iraq after it happened. The defiant dictator also had a huge painting of himself and burning World Trade Center towers placed in Iraq's biggest airport. The label under his name read in part "Combat Leader."
Hussein had broken almost every agreement he signed after losing "Desert Storm." He attacked planes in the no-fly zones, never returned Kuwait's POWs or stolen funds, obfuscated UN Weapon's Inspectors and involved French, German, Russian and UN officials in a web of corruption and deceit, most likely causing those countries to lobby against Iraq's invasion by the US. Iraq's military ally the Soviet Union had disappeared so Hussein began acting in public like less of a secular socialist and more of a Muslim fanatic in order to induce other Arab countries and terrorists to be his allies.
But Hussein's administration had killed more Muslims than anyone in history, using sneak attacks, nerve gas on peaceful villages and Iran, genocide and torture of his own people (Kurds and dissident Arabs alike.) Mass civilian graves are still being examined and catalogued. Had Iraq not been stopped at Kuwait, they no doubt would have continued pillaging across the Middle East like Germany of old had tried in Europe. Somebody had to stop them. Iraq's terrorism ties combined with threats against America sealed the deal and the US quickly won the war against Iraq as they had against Afghanistan.
Then a great advantage for the US occurred in the War on Terror. Terrorists began to pour into Iraq from all over the world to attack our ready forces. Thanks to US expertise and modern weapons, we just as quickly dispatched them. It was no easy task, however. Yet with only a minimum of our own casualties, most of the terrorists are now either captured or dead. al-Qaeda's back is broken. Fearful Iraqi citizens, so long oppressed under a socialist dictatorship only to face terrorists, are now bravely stepping forth to identify and help flush out the rest of the fanatic fiends.
At the brink of final victory, however, there is a problem that has been long in the making. Radical left wing politicians like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want to immediately surrender the War on Terror, claiming without evidence that the "war is lost." Democrat Congressman John Murtha tried to help the process along by falsely accusing US Marines of atrocities. Constantly pressured by radical groups such as Moveon.org and Code Pink, other politicians are caving in. With liberal news media on their side to slant stories, highlight bad war news and cover up victories, these defeatists think they have a good chance to bring us to capitulation.
But they have not counted on the good people of America who support the troops and their mission! Even now, retired Lt Colonel "Buzz" Patterson is gearing up to lead a "Tour of Victory" across America, sponsored by MoveAmericaForward.org. Stopping in many cities to rally patriotic Americans, the tour will also collect cards, letters and donations for wounded troops at Walter Reed hospital in Washington DC. While in DC, they will encourage politicians to not surrender to terrorists and listens to facts about successes in Iraq.
Mr. Patterson has also written an expertly researched new book about those who most ardently oppose US policy called "War Crimes." It reveals the motivations and ideals behind left-wing propagandist groups, politicians and political lobbyists. Another recent and very important tome is entitled "Sabotage" by Rowan Scarborough. This book is packed with facts showing how left wing CIA employees and officials worked against the US by undermining President Bush's policies in many ways.
Why do they do it? Even though they are Americans, they don't like America the way it is and today's Democratic Party would radically change our government. Their hope is that if they can get America to surrender and lose the war, it can be blamed on President Bush, causing leftist politicians to be voted in. Since years of propaganda have caused "Bush Derangement Syndrome" to reach a fever pitch, they feel it might work. The not so radical left, while usually not the instigators of propaganda, will easily believe it and do nothing to stop it.
But should we conservatives allow America to lose a war we've almost won because of political machinations? No! The time has come in America to stand up for our successful troops and America! Let's join the "Fight for Victory" tour in every city and tell all our friends and neighbors. If it's not coming to your city create your own rally to support the troops anyway! Send in a donation to MoveAmericaForward.org to help them, if you can. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper explaining you support the troops and their mission of liberty. And don't forget to write your Congress and tell them surrender is not an option!
