Fight War News Censorship!

Most people know that liberal news media are rampant throughout the United States of America. Steadily growing throughout the 20th Century, the genre took a big leap forward in the 1960's and was firmly entrenched by the 1970's. For a few years before talk radio and the internet became popular the general public was immersed in a news vacuum where little information was released without a left-wing "filter" applied. This sifting and slanting of facts had and still has the effect of dumbing down the general public and applying false peer pressure to change values in our society.
Liberal news media are especially distinguished by their lack of information. For example, a story on abortion will never show ultrasound images of an unborn baby or mention the risk of breast cancer. An article concerning a child gun accident is sensationalized but will omit the fact that many other types of accidents are more likely to occur to a child, such as falls, drowning or accidental poisoning. And Iraqi war news will list plenty of casualties and military personnel killed but never any successes such as terrorists killed or captured, new infrastructure built or advances in diplomacy between hostile groups.
Many reporters don't want to go find the facts. For one thing, it could be dangerous! For another, their editors usually reject successful war news stories even if they were submitted. Thirdly, the openly displayed personal hatred of President Bush often displayed by leftists outweighs love of country and journalistic integrity in many liberal reporters and editors. The defeatist attitude of gloomy bad news bearers is a perfect weakness for terrorists to exploit. The jihadists often plant false anti-American stories and lead reporters around like sheep.
The preceding is not "news" to conservative news junkies, bloggers and activists. Thanks to groups like Accuracy in Media and Media Research Center, we've known about liberal media for years. In reaction, news web sites such as WorldNetDaily.com and CNSNews.com have long ago stepped in to fill the gap and inform the nation, breaking many previously untold stories and exposing liberal lies. Conservatives with internet access live in a different, better informed world than the general populace. But the lack of available news without liberal filters is still common, Fox News notwithstanding.
For several years I have relied on a particularly accurate news source for military news. Readers of this column will note the many times I've used the article Munitions Found in Iraq Meet WMD Criteria, Official Says to confound and refute "anti-war" liberals. The item is only one of many well-written, informative news articles about Defense Department issues found on the Defense Department's Armed Forces Information Service News Articles (AFISNA) webpage.
High quality, fact-filled news about the war is exactly what liberal news media hate the most! That is why they will never use a good source like this. Day after day, a litany of bad war news (sometimes manufactured out of whole cloth by terrorists and spoon-fed to willing mainstream news reporters) is spewed across the nation. There have been many complaints; these news outlets can't be totally ignorant. It seems obvious some are deliberately attempting to demoralize the nation during wartime to advance their political agenda.
But what can we do about it? To help spread the news about Armed Forces Information Service News Articles, I suggest conservative or Pro-American websites link to it and use their great looking logo as a banner. Blogs are also a good way to distribute this link. Suppose you don't have a blog or a website. Would you please send an email to websites you read and ask them to link to it? Suppose you do have a website and have already linked to AFISNA. Would you write to your internet associates and ask them to do the same?
You don't have to send the whole pitch I'm giving here. You can just say this:
Support the troops and counter liberal media censorship of war news! Please download the banner image http://www.defenselink.mil/Images/afisna.gif, upload it to your website images folder, prominently display it on your web page and link it to http://www.defenselink.mil/news/articles.aspx . This is a great news source for anyone and will enhance your website. It can be used as a public service web or blog ad, a banner in your news section or you may want to simply add it to your list of favorite links. Thank you and please tell your friends!
Of course, I'm going to begin sending this request out to websites I know as well, but there are a lot of sites out there, and I could use some help. Would you please take the time to email the administrators of some websites you read, asking them to post this banner and link? If even only a hundred well-known websites and blogs post it, the counter-effect against liberal media would be tremendous! Letters to the editor would be written asking why newspapers have not covered the fact that new surgical techniques and improved medical data collection in recent conflicts have contributed to the lowest “killed-in-action” rate in history, according to Dr. William Winkenwerder Jr., Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs.
Liberals across the nation might suddenly find out that over 500 Weapons of Mass Destruction were not only found, but certified as WMD which violated treaties by the Department of Defense, in many cases being handed a printout of the AFISNA article. Numerous liberals would also be astounded when told by AFISNA website readers that all active-duty components made their recruiting goals in November of 2006 or that U.S. and Iraqi forces recently captured 50 insurgents and found numerous enemy weapons caches during operations conducted over a three day period.
Our troops are exceedingly frustrated by the lack of positive war news reaching the USA from overseas. Yet the AFISNA is providing much well-written, factual information. We simply must get it to the people. If you have a website or blog, please post and link this banner. If you don't, email some websites and ask them to post it. It's time to stand against liberal media war news censorship, stand up for the troops and stand up for America!
